Brazil will take on co-hosts Slovenia to secure the third-place in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022. Both teams would ideally not want to be in this fixture, as they would have loved to reach the final to have a crack at the trophy. However, the two losing semifinalists will now have to be content with fighting it out for third-fourth place. It will be a difficult task for both sides, with their semifinal defeats still fresh in their minds. However, they have to somehow regroup and find their A-game ahead of their all-important upcoming clash.

Brazil were undefeated till they reached the last-four stage. They topped Pool B with eight points from three games. The South American nation carried that form into the knockout stage, beating Iran in the round of 16 and Argentina in the quarterfinals before losing narrowly to Poland 3-2 in the semifinals. Slovenia finished second in Pool D after managing seven points from three games. They got the better of Germany in the last 16 and Ukraine in quarters but lost to Italy 3-0 in the last 4.

The 24-team competition will take place from August 26th to September 11th. All of the teams are divided into six groups with each pool consisting of four teams. The group phase will last for six days, with each team playing once against their pool opponents. Following the completion of the schedule, 16 teams will be ascertained. It will have all six pool winners, runners-up, and the best four third-placed teams. They will proceed to the first round of elimination.
