One of the standout games to look forward to on Sunday will see three-time champions Brazil taking on Asian nation Japan.
The wait is over as the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship has kicked off in style. The tournament which is hosted in Poland and Slovenia this year will take place from 26th August to 11th September. The opening day action on Friday saw some interesting results as volleyball fans were treated to entertaining action. About six games a day will take place during the group phase. In total, the 17 days of action will see 24 teams from across the world fighting for glory, with a total of 52 matches set to happen across three different cities.
One of the standout games to look forward to on Sunday will see three-time champions Brazil taking on Asian nation Japan. Both sides are placed in Group B and were part of the opening day action. Brazil played Cuba in the inaugural match in this year’s tournament and just about won the clash 3-2. Later, Japan overcame Qatar in a convincing 3-0 fashion to register their first win. Overall, Japan top Pool B with three points, while Brazil have two points and Cuba have one to its name, while Qatar is yet to open its account.

The 24-team competition will take place from August 26th to September 11th. All of the teams are divided into six groups with each pool consisting of four teams. The group phase will last for six days, with each team playing once against their pool opponents. Following the completion of the schedule, 16 teams will be ascertained. It will have all six pool winners, runners-up, and the best four third-placed teams. They will proceed to the first round of elimination.
