Argentina and Egypt will be eager to register their maiden victory in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2022 when they play each other on Wednesday. These two sides have lost both of their opening fixtures in this year’s competition. Even though they might not be able to secure the top two spots in Pool F, they still have a chance of qualification to the knockout stage. The best four third-placed teams will also seal a spot in the elimination round of the tournament that will take place from 26th August to 11th September.
Even though Argentina are winless in this competition, they gave a good fight to their opponents in both matches. The South American nation lost to the Netherlands and Iran by the same 3-2 scoreline. Despite not getting a win yet, they can take a lot of comfort from the close manner of those two defeats. On the other hand, Egypt lost 3-0 to the Dutch side before going down to Iran by a 3-1 margin. After two rounds of matches, the Netherlands and Iran have five points from their opening two games, while Argentina have two points and Egypt have zero.

The 24-team competition will take place from August 26th to September 11th. All of the teams are divided into six groups with each pool consisting of four teams. The group phase will last for six days, with each team playing once against their pool opponents. Following the completion of the schedule, 16 teams will be ascertained. It will have all six pool winners, runners-up, and the best four third-placed teams. They will proceed to the first round of elimination.
