The Ahmedabad Defenders, last season’s runners-up, face the formidable Hyderabad Black Hawks in the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Season 2 powered by A23. Both teams will be eager to get their campaigns off to a winning start in the match taking place at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru. With the fans’ excitement levels high, these two sides will be hoping to start the tournament on a winning note.

Angamuthu Ramaswamy, one of the experienced players in the Ahmedabad squad, talked about the game ahead of this much-anticipated fixture. He is optimistic that this season will see them go one step further and win the prestigious trophy after losing it in the final hurdle last year. “Last year, it was tough for us to come so close, hopefully, this year we will get the trophy,” Ramaswamy said, as per a release.

Last year, the Kolkata Thunderbolts won the title after defeating Ahmedabad Defenders in the final 15-13, 15-10, 15-12. Notably, Ahmedabad’s squad composition has remained largely unchanged. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Black Hawks captain, Guru Prasanth predicts a hard-fought battle between the two sides. “Ahmedabad are a very good team as we saw last season, their teamwork is one of their core strengths. However, we have drawn up a few strategies and we only need to execute them,” stated Guru, who has built the reputation of being a match-winner.

Guru also praised the Black Hawks’ coach, Tom Joseph, for creating a positive environment within the team, which includes a healthy mix of retained players and new additions. “He always asks us to play freely, to play our hearts out and not get bogged down by the pressure. This allows us to go out and express ourselves on the court,” he concluded.
