Paulo Costa, a middleweight in the UFC, has utilised recent assault allegations against him to criticise his next opponent, Luke Rockhold. The fighter, Costa (13-2 MMA), was charged with hitting a health care employee at a local medical center earlier this week after she reportedly refused to provide the fighter with an inoculation card for the COVID-19 vaccination. According to the story, ‘The Eraser’ wanted the vaccination card but not the vaccine.

According to reports, the Brazilian boxer stated he had been inoculated and was merely seeking for a documentation of the vaccination before accepting the card. Costa allegedly grabbed the nurse in an attempt to prevent him from collecting the card, and Costa responded by throwing an elbow, causing the nurse’s lip to swell. Team Paulo Costa quickly responded to the allegations of wrongdoing by publishing the following statement.

“The recent articles published by the media involving athlete Paulo Costa – ‘Borrachinha’ referring to what happened in a shopping mall in the city of Contagem/MG generated questions, so we must present come clarifications. First, tending to sensationalism, these are reckless and inconsistent,” the statement read. “The athlete Paulo Costa – ‘Borrachinha’ and his entire team reject any type of violence. ‘Borrachinha’ is a high-performing athlete, full time dedicated to training, to following the rules, guidelines, and disciplines.”

Paulo Costa believes he is inncocent

While punching a nurse is a severe charge, Paulo Costa appears to be certain that he will be found not guilty of any wrongdoing. The former UFC title contender used the new allegations against him to make fun of his prospective opponent, Luke Rockhold.
