Petr Yan recently went up against Sean O’Malley at the UFC 280 event. Going into the fight as a massive favorite, Yan ended up suffering a controversial split decision loss. The fight was razor close and could’ve gone either way. However, the former bantamweight champion is certain that he won the fight.

Moreover, Petr Yan is also disappointed in the judging of the fight. Interestingly, as revealed by Daniel Cormier, the Russian might be looking to leave the UFC following his loss to Sean O’Malley.

During a recent episode of his DC & RC show, Daniel Cormier talked about how Yan feels he was not backed by the UFC. While suggesting that the Russian might leave the promotion, Cormier said: “Petr Yan is so disappointed in this decision. Petr Yan is so disappointed in the decision against Aljo that I’m hearing word that this guy may want to look at something different down the line in terms of his career because he just does not feel like maybe the organization doesn’t have his back.”

Can Petr Yan bounce back after suffering back-to-back losses?

The Russian has now lost last two of his fights. One against Aljamain Sterling and one against Sean O’Malley recently. Interestingly, both fights were extremely close and could’ve been awarded in favor of Yan. However, that wasn’t the case.

While his future in the UFC looks doubtful, Petr Yan is nowhere close to being finished. The former bantamweight champion is still one of the best fighters in his weight class. He certainly possesses the ability to bounce back from his recent setbacks and climb to the top of the division if he stays in the UFC.

That said, it will be interesting to see if the former bantamweight champion stays with the UFC or if he looks to find another organization.
