Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns want to do it again, but this time with five rounds. Chimaev and Burns battled in a highly anticipated fight at UFC 273 last Saturday. It was Chimaev’s hardest challenge yet, but the odds were stacked in his favour. In the end, Chimaev won by decision in a back-and-forth bout that many are calling one of the finest of the year.

After the bout, both Chimaev and Burns took to social media to express their desire to fight again, however this once in a five-round fight.

Burns wrote on Twitter, “If call the cops don’t show up you know who to call @KChimaev 5 rounds.”

Burns is, of course, referring to Colby Covington when he says “call the cops,” since Dana White had stated that he would be next in line for Chimaev. However, no news on whether Colby is truly interested in fighting. The Brazilian wants a rematch if the projected Chimaev vs. Covington battle fails to materialize.

Chimaev responds to Burns

Khamzat offered a reprimand to Burns after viewing his statements about wanting a rematch but making it five rounds.

Chimaev on his Instagram posted a photo and captioned in response, “In 5 rounds I will take your soul see you soon boy @gilbert_burns.”

There’s little doubt that a rematch between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns would be a popular choice among fans. Both guys were rocked in the initial battle, and as the match progressed, they both showed tremendous will and heart. However, if there are five rounds, the outcome may be different.

Regardless, it appears like Khamzat and Burns will cross paths again, though it is doubtful that it will be next. Khamzat will want to fight for the championship or compete in a number one contender contest, whilst Burns will simply need a victory or two to reclaim his crown.
