Winning a UFC title means winning the biggest championship in MMA today. This title is recognized to be the most prestigious all-around the world. There have been many UFC champions but none like them as they have been Champions for the longest and have defended their title from time to time to make them count as the greatest MMA fighters in the world. Over the years many fighters have fought for the title, some won, some lost. So, some UFC fighters on contrary have set many records. So, here we will look at the real champions in UFC who have won the most title matches in their career.

Demetrious Johnson: 12 wins

After securing a split decision against Joseph Benavidez in 2012, Demetrious Johnson, now signed with the ONE FC, embarked on a warpath. In his 11th title defense, he broke Anderson Silva’s record for the most straight title defenses and raised the benchmark. Despite not being given credit, Johnson managed to put on some very remarkable performances during his reign.

From his dramatic knockout victories over Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo to his last-minute submission victories over Kyoji Hogirichu and Ray Borg, he has a long list of impressive victories. Johnson’s UFC reign came to an end at the hands of old opponent Henry Cejudo in a controversial decision that is still debated today. After losing the decision, he departed the UFC for ONE FC.

George St-Pierre: 13 wins

GSP being on this list was inevitable. He is considered to be an all-time great in the UFC and MMA history. His four UFC titles span two weight classes and span four reigns. His first and brief reign began in 2006 when he fought Matt Hughes to capture the welterweight championship. He then went on to win the interim championship before reclaiming the Welterweight crown. Following that, he had a spectacular title run that included nine title defenses.

He later vacated the championship, leaving him with a 12-fight UFC title victory record. His UFC title victories are divided across four reigns into two weight classes. His first and brief reign began in 2006 when he fought Matt Hughes to capture the welterweight championship. In 2017, he defeated Michael Bisping to capture the UFC middleweight championship, making him a two-weight champion and increasing his record to 13 UFC title fight victories. He later relinquished the title and hasn’t competed since. He has a 26-2 record to his credit.

Jon Jones: 14 wins

Jon Jones is the only fighter on the list who has never lost a championship bout. With wins against Daniel Cormier, Vitor Belfort, and Ryan Badder among others, he has a record of 26-1(1NC). Jones has fought in some of the most illustrious and contentious UFC title fights. Jon Jones won his first championship in 2011. He went on to defend the championship eight times until losing it due to a hit-and-run incident.

He had won nine UFC titles at the time. In 2016, he reclaimed the interim title before being suspended due to a positive drug test. In 2017, he returned and won the title, but was suspended again, making his victory void. He reclaimed the championship in 2018 and has had three title defenses since then.
