Both the fighters went on war but Gamrot came on top, winning the match via unanimous decision.
The battle of Mateusz Gamrot and Arman Tsarukyan, which served as UFC on ESPN 38’s main event, went five incredible rounds. As they approached the first main event of their UFC debuts, both of the lightweight fighters wanted to make a statement on the big stage. The judges unanimously determined that Gamrot (21-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) had beaten Tsarukyan following 25 minutes of frantic battle (18-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) Tsarukyan was able to shift places and land a few hits in the closing seconds of this fascinating main event. Gamrot received 48-47 ratings from all three of the approved judges to win the fight by a unanimous decision. Gamrot now wants Justin Gaethje to be his next challenger.
