Eliezer Silva, an associate of Anderson Silva, has stated that Anderson Silva was not knocked out during the sparring session and that “The Spider” was merely attempting to promote his sparring partner in advance of his boxing match against Anthony Hannah on tonight’s Paul-Silva undercard in Arizona.

Silva first claimed that Eliezer had twice knocked him out in a sparring session, but he subsequently backtracked after the Arizona Boxing Commission nearly postponed his fight with Paul due to worries about the Brazilian’s health.

Eliezier, Silva’s training partner, clarified the situation in a recent interview with MMA Fighting, saying that while the two had a very precise sparring session where both fighters learnt a lot in front of their respective fights on Saturday, he did not KO Silva in training.

“Anderson is Anderson and every time you step into the ring to spar with him and help each other, you know it’s not going to be just a training session but a very technical fight, but there was no knockout,” Eliezer Silva (1-0) told Guilherme Cruz on Friday.

“The way he expressed himself, I think people misunderstood him,” he added. “But I think it was some fake news to [try to] help me.”
