Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw has revealed that he will have to undergo a shoulder surgery. He was last seen inside the octagon at UFC 280 last month against Aljamain Sterling.

As soon as the fight started, it was quite evident that he had came into the fight injured. Following his loss, Dillashaw revealed that he had dislocated his shoulder numerous times in the build up to his fight.

TJ Dillashaw recently sat down for an interview with Ariel Helwani where he further discussed about the injury. While speaking about how he wasn’t surprised after dislocating his shoulder mid-fight, Dillashaw said: “I wasn’t super surprised that it happened. I’m just pissed it happened so fast and that it didn’t go back in like I was hoping it would. It’s sore now. I’m scheduled to get surgery next Tuesday.”

Further in the interview, TJ Dillashaw also spoke about how he has been dealing with shoulder injuries since 2017 and even had a surgery back in 2019.

What’s next for TJ Dillashaw?

The past few years have been really tough for the former UFC bantamweight champion. He was banned from the sport for two years in 2019 and has fought only twice since then. Considering the fact that he has been injured and will require surgery yet again, it’s safe to say that we will not see him compete any time soon.

TJ Dillashaw will most likely be out for nearly a year again before making his comeback. While he will be hopeful of climbing up the ranks to get another title shot in the future, it is worth noting that Dillashaw is 36 years old. That said, it is hard to imagine him getting back to his prime and potentially fighting for the title yet again.
