The highly anticipated lightweight matchup between Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler is the main event.
Two world championship fights are among the 14 overall fights scheduled for the UFC’s return to New York. The promotion unveiled the complete fighter lineup for UFC 281, which takes place on November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, during Saturday’s UFC Vegas 63 broadcast. Israel Adesanya challenges Alex Pereira, a former kickboxing opponent and two-time winner over Adesanya, for the middleweight championship in the main event. The highly anticipated lightweight matchup between Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler is the main event, while Carla Esparza defends her recently won strawweight championship against former champion Zhang Weili in the co-main event.
Frankie Edgar’s battle against Chris Gutierrez, who is on the rise in the bantamweight class, is the penultimate match on the main program and is expected to be his last in mixed martial arts. Dan Hooker and Claudio Puelles square off in a 155-pound encounter to open the pay-per-view portion of the fight. The UFC 281 last fight on the preliminary program, which is broadcast on ESPNEWS and ESPN+, features Brad Riddell and Renato Moicano in the lightweight division. Prior to that, Dominick Reyes, a two-time contender for the light heavyweight belt, makes his competitive debut against Ryan Spann after an absence of more than 18 months.
