Stipe Miocic is one of the best heavyweights in the world. He has fought on equal footing with the likes of Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, and many other world-class fighters, cementing himself as one of the best. He lost his title against Francis Ngannou in UFC 260 and hasn’t entered the ring after it. Daniel Cormier in his suffered has lost only to two fighters, and they are Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. As Stipe beat Cormier in their fight he became one of the best UFC heavyweight of all time.

In his two reigns as UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic has successfully defended his championship 4 times, a record for most successful heavyweight title defenses. He presently has a record of 20 victories and four losses in fights. Junior Dos Santos, Fabricio Werdum, Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski, Francis Ngannou, and, of course, beating  Daniel Cormier twice are among Miocic’s heavyweight opponents and previous champions. So, let’s take a look back at his greatest UFC match.

UFC 198 – Fabricio Werdum

Stipe Miocic’s first crack at heavyweight gold came at UFC 198 when he faced then-champion Fabricio Werdum in his native Brazil. Werdum is well-known for his high-level BJJ abilities and ability to submit opponents. He was the first guy in over a decade to defeat Fedor Emelianenko, dubbed “The Last Emperor.” Miocic, who is recognized for his boxing ability and range management, kept the bout standing. With a short right hand and a rearward movement, he knocked Werdum out. It was like something out of a movie. He hushed the home crowd’s pro-Werdum chants. The battle demonstrated Miocic’s skill as a boxer and his ability to knock out opponents. It also signaled the beginning of a new era of UFC heavyweight competition.

UFC 211 – Junior Dos Santos 2

Stipe Miocic was slated to battle former UFC heavyweight champion and famous “Cigano” Junior Dos Santos in the main event of UFC 211. Miocic was defending his championship for the second time in his career. The two men had previously battled, with Santos winning by decision in a razor-close fight. It was Miocic’s last chance to redeem himself. The firefighter made a solid first impression against “Cigano.” Even by his prior high standards, it was clear from the outset of the fight that Miocic had improved significantly since their first battle and was a far more dangerous fighter on the feet. Many people anticipated the conflict to conclude much sooner than it did. Within 2:30 minutes of the bout, Miocic had knocked out his opponent in style.

UFC 203 – Alistair Overeem

Stipe Miocic was supposed to defend his championship against Alistair Overeem, a former K-1 kickboxing champion and MMA icon, at UFC 203 in 2016. Overeem is a seasoned fighter with stoppage victories over many fighters. In a tense one-round bout, Miocic successfully defended his title. Alistair Overeem, who is famed for his striking skills, was unable to knock out Miocic with a well-timed blow. He also tried to submit Miocic with a guillotine choke, but Miocic was able to free himself. Overeem, who was battling from the outside and firing wild blows, was knocked out by Miocic’s own strikes during the exchanges. Then he earned a first-round TKO victory.
