With a clever, adjustment-filled 5-round decision over rising challenger Arnold Allen, Max Holloway once again showed why he’s head and shoulders above most of his colleagues. Edson Barboza’s wonderfully timed knee in the co-main event put Billy Quarantillo’s top-15 hopes on hold. Bill Algeo and TJ Brown threw everything but the kitchen sink at each other for six minutes in the prelims.

In addition, following his victory against Arnold Allen, Max Holloway moved up two positions in the official UFC P4P rankings. Max Holloway (24-7 MMA) defeated Arnold Allen (19-2 MMA) via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47) in the featherweight main event at UFC Kansas City on Saturday, April 15th. With the win, ‘Blessed’ has moved up two places in the Pound for Pound rankings, reaching number thirteen.

Other changes in the standings were Jamahal Hill dropping to 14th and Robert Whittaker dropping to 15th. Alex Pereira has dropped to #10 in the P4P rankings, while Brandon Moreno climbed to #9. Kamaru Usman has also dropped to seventh place.

Max Holloway last lost to Alexander Volkanovski

Holloway, 31, is back in the game after defeating Allen. He previously lost three times to Alexander Volkanovski (at UFC 245, UFC 251, and most recently at UFC 276 in July of last year). When asked whether he felt insulted by critics who predicted him to lose to the 29-year-old Allen during the post-fight conference, Holloway said:

“You’re only as good as your last fight and I told you guys I had that (third Alexander Volkanovski) fight, that was the last taste that they had of me. I was here with that (Calvin) Kattar fight, I heard the same thing all over again — that Arnold’s going to be the guy who’s going to break my chin, who’s going to put (me) out, too slow, too old, whatever it is. We went out there, we got to prove it. I wanted to go out there and hit and not get hit. Me and my boy have been vibing out to some Roy Jones Jr., Body Head Bangerz – we got to go out there looking good doing it.”
