The third-seeded men’s singles pair of Matthew Ebden and Jamie Murray will take on the team of Jan Zielinski and Hugo Nys in the final of the 2022 Winston-Salem Open. Murray and Ebden recorded a comfortable semi-final victory over the team of Simone Bolellli and Marcelo Melo by a score of 7-6 (7-2), 6-2. The Scottish-Australian pair hit five aces in the match and converted two out of five break points. They also recorded win percentages of 74% and 81% on the first and second serves respectively. Ebden and Murray’s opponents in the final, Zielinski and Nys, have been in incredible form in the competition. The unseeded pair beat the top-seeded team of Mektic and Pavic in the quarter-finals and the fourth-seeded team of Heliovaara and Glasspool in the semis.
The score at the end of the semi-final tie was 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in Zielinski and Nys’ favour. The Pole and the Monegasque hit five aces in the match and converted two out of six break points. They also recorded win percentages of 79% and 61% on the first and second serves respectively. The duo has emerged as a giant killer in the competition but things will not be easy against Ebden and Murray in the final.
Ebden/Murray and Zienlinsk/Nys are scheduled to face one another in the final of the 2022 Winston-Salem Open on Friday, August 26 at 1:30 am IST in the men’s doubles category. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 21 till August 27.
The 2022 Winston-Salem Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for men’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 21 and conclude on August 27 this year.
