In the first round of the ATP Stockholm, Tommy Paul lost the opening set to world No. 577 Leo Borg, but he quickly regained his game and won the following two games to claim a straightforward victory, 5-7 6-4 6-1. Borg in straight sets. He finished the week by winning his first ATP title after taking down players like Andy Murray and Denis Shapovalov. His three victories on indoor hard courts this year have all come against players below the top 200. He defeated Nicolas Alvarez Varona, who was rated #231 at the time, and Martin Landaluce, who was the current Boys’ US Open champion, to go to the quarterfinals in Gijon last week.

Quentin Halys, the winner of the Ismaning Challenger last week, was upset by Mikael Ymer to go to the second round in Stockholm. The big-serving Frenchman led by a set and a break at one point, 5-7 6-4 6-3, making it challenging for the Sweden. In six attempts, the gifted young Swede has never advanced past the second round in Stockholm. In 2016 and 2019, he twice advanced to the second round before falling to Ivo Karlovic and Cedrik Marcel Stebe, respectively.
