The WTA released the tournament calendar for the first half of the 2022 season on Monday, beginning with the Australian Summer of Tennis in January and ending with The Championships, Wimbledon in July. The WTA’s 49th season will begin in Australia, with the Adelaide International and two 250-level tournaments in Melbourne taking place in the first week. The tour will travel to Sydney for the Sydney Tennis Classic in week two, while a second Adelaide International will be held concurrently, before the Australian Open begins the week of January 17.

The WTA Tour will then resume its traditional schedule through the end of the grass court swing at Wimbledon, with details on the remaining sections of the calendar to be announced in due course.

WTA 1000 events will be held at the Qatar TotalEnergies Open (Doha), BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells), Miami Open presented by ita, Mutua Madrid Open, and Internazionali BNL d’Italia (Rome) in the first half of the season, along with eight WTA 500 events and at least 15 WTA 250 events.
