On Wednesday in the second round of the 2022 US open JJ Wolf of America will play Alejandro Tabilo of Chile.
In the first round of the US Open, Jeffrey John Wolf not only defeated Roberto Bautista Agut decisively but also completely dominated the match. On the serve of the current ATP Doha and Kitzbuhel winner, 6-4 6-4 6-4, he produced 14 aces, losing only seven points on his first serves throughout the entire match, and generated eight breakpoint opportunities. To be fair, the talented American teenager has handled some formidable competition this year rather well, so an impressive victory in the opening round is not entirely unexpected. He overcame Denis Shapovalov in Washington this month after serving for the match against Roberto Bautista Agut at Indian Wells in March, playing a three-setter with Stefanos Tsitsipas in Miami a few days later. His only other main-draw performance in 2020 saw him advance to the third round of the US Open, where his two victories came over a left-handed South American (Guido Pella) and a Spaniard (Roberto Carballes Baena).
On his first main-draw outing, Alejandro Tabilo upset the unfit and struggling Kamil Majchrzak in four sets to go to the second round of the US Open. Last year, he participated in a competition in New York and lost to an American teenager named Eliot Spizzirri in QR1. The top-ranked Chilean has advanced to the second round of a grand slam twice but lost both of those matches, one to American John Isner at the Australian Open in 2020 and the other to Miomir Kecmanovic at Wimbledon a few months ago.
JJ Wolf and Alejandro Tabilo are scheduled to face each other on Wednesday, August 31 in the second round of the 2022 US Open. The fourth and final Grand Slam of the season began on August 29 and will go on until September 11.
