Sorana Mihaela Cîrstea, a Romanian professional tennis player, was born on April 7, 1990. On August 12, 2013, she reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 21 in the world. Her career-high position in doubles was No. 35, which she attained on March 9, 2009. Her greatest accomplishments include making it to the 2013 Rogers Cup final and the quarterfinals of the 2009 French Open. Cîrstea is a competitive baseliner whose rapid, flat, and potent groundstrokes are the focal point of her style. She often accumulates large amounts of both winners and unforced errors as a result of her high-risk game style. She consistently hits wins with her backhand, which also penetrates deeply into the court even when she does not particularly aim for the lines, giving her the power to control rallies. Her forehand is quite flat, which enables her to consistently smash far into the court, produce consistent power, and hit a lot of winners. Her forehand is a little inconsistent, though, so unforced errors do build up from this side. Cîrstea has the ability to create winning angles from either side.
