The American tennis player Marcos Andres Giron, whose Spanish name is Marcos Girón, was born on July 24, 1993. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of No. 49 on May 16, 2022, and a doubles ranking of No. 192 on August 1, 2022. He won the men’s invitational in 2011 and the boys’ singles in 2009 at the Ojai Tennis Tournament. At the 2014 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships, UCLA’s Giron won the singles title.

Giron reached the second round of a major tournament at the 2020 US Open, when he overcame Marc Polmans in five sets in his opening round, and at the French Open for the first time in his career. Giron won his first top-ten match at the Paris Masters in November by defeating seventh-seeded Matteo Berrettini.

At the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, Texas, Giron began his clay-court season. He was defeated by fellow countryman and sixth seed Frances Tiafoe in the opening round. He lost to eventual finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the opening round of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Federico Coria defeated him in the opening round at Barcelona. He was defeated by Hugo Gaston in the opening round of the BMW Open in Munich.

Alejandro Tabilo defeated him in the opening round of qualifying at the Madrid Open. He defeated 12th seed, world No. 15, and 2020 finalist Diego Schwartzman in the second round of his Italian Open debut as a lucky loser. Third-seeded Giron defeated top seed and world No. 25 Dan Evans in his semifinal encounter to get to his first ATP Tour final at the San Diego Open. He lost to fellow countryman and fifth-seeded Brandon Nakashima in the championship match.
