Norway’s Casper Ruud plays tennis professionally. Ruud is the highest-ranked tennis player from Norway in history thanks to his career-high singles ranking of No. 2, attained on September 12, 2022. Eight of his nine ATP Tour singles victories—which he has earned—have come on clay surfaces. Ruud is the first man from his native Norway to reach an ATP singles final, a major final, a Masters 1000 final, and the top 20 of the ATP rankings. He also advanced to the 2022 ATP Finals final. He achieved a career-high doubles ranking of No. 133 after making it to the 2021 Wimbledon Championships quarterfinals. He received the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award 2022 in recognition of his revered on-court conduct.

Ruud put on an incredible performance during the tournament, beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Emil Ruusuvuori, Lorenzo Sonego, Hubert Hurkacz, Holger Rune, and ultimately Marin Cilic to advance to his first Grand Slam final. In the championship match, he took on Rafael Nadal, a 13-time winner of the French Open. The Norwegian is currently ranked number 6 in the world after steadily moving up the ranks. He has accomplished a lot in his short career and is getting better quickly. He finished second in a Masters 1000 tournament in Miami and advanced to the ATP Tour Finals semifinals. His family and coaches, including his father and coach Christian Ruud and another Norwegian Joachim Bjerke, are very supportive of him.

Know all about Casper Ruud’s coaches

Christian Ruud

Christian Ruud, Casper’s father, has been his coach since he was a very young child. Casper inherited Christian Ruud’s passion for tennis. Christian Ruud achieved a singles world no. 39 ranking, which was a career high. Prior to his son passing him in the singles rankings, he was the highest-ranked Norwegian. Christian Ruud has won 12 singles championships on the challenger’s tour. He reached one ATP Tour final but lost. Additionally, he competed for Norway in three straight Olympics, making it as far as the third round in Atlanta in 1996. Casper is very close with his father, who has also helped to mould him into a very kind and humble person. The father-and-son team also enjoys hitting it out on the golf courses.

Joachim Bjerke

Casper has always looked to Christian as a guiding force who has helped mould him from an early age. In addition to his father, Casper has a different coach. In recent years, Casper has been coached by Joachim Bjerke. Joachim won the Norwegian title in 2012. He has also represented Norway in the Davis Cup. Bjerke has been a great team player in the Ruud camp despite being only four years older than Casper.
