Magda Linette is a Polish professional tennis player who was born on February 12, 1992. After making her tour debut in 2009, she achieved a singles career-high ranking of No. 22 in the world in January 2023 following AO 2023. On the WTA Tour, Linette has advanced to five finals and claimed two championships. At the Internationaux de Strasbourg in May 2013, Linette made her debut in the main draw of a WTA tournament and won her first match at this level. She used qualifying to get to her maiden WTA semifinal in Baku the same year. At the 2014 Ningbo International Open, Linette won her maiden WTA 125 championship; at the 2019 Bronx Open, she earned her first WTA Tour championship. The quarterfinals of WTA Premier competitions was her best finish. In addition to making it to the third round of the other three Grand Slam competitions, Linette advanced to the 2023 Australian Open semifinals. Her most successful Grand Slam in terms of winning percentage is the French Open. She played a slice forehand against Peng Shuai in 2020 on her way to winning the Thailand Open and the WTA Fan Favorite Shot of the Year award.

New improvements with new coach

Due to a knee injury, Linette began the season at the end of March. Her first semifinal appearance since winning the Hua Hin Championships in February came in May. She won over Yulia Putintseva in the Strasbourg quarterfinal before falling to Sorana Cîrstea in a three-set semifinal encounter. On May 21, Linette announced on Instagram that she had begun working with Dawid Celt, who was formerly Agnieszka Radwaska’s coach. At the French Open, Linette upset top seeds Ashleigh Barty and Chloé Paquet after Barty withdrew due to injury. She fell to Ons Jabeur in the third round, losing in three sets. She was defeated by Ekaterina Alexandrova in the quarterfinal in two sets. Linette teamed up with Andreja Klepa to win her first doubles championship at the same competition. She beat Ons Jabeur in the opening round of the French Open before falling to Martina Trevisan in the second. Linette and Aleksandra Krunic were awarded the winners of the Eastbourne International doubles tournament in June. Linette, who played for Poland at the United Cup in Brisbane, advanced to the semifinals before falling to Madison Keys in straight sets after beating Zhibek Kulambayeva, Jil Teichmann, and Lucia Bronzetti on her way there. At the Australian Open, Linette defeated Mayar Sherif, Anett Kontaveit, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Caroline Garcia to go to the quarterfinals, which was her best finish at a major tournament in her career. She then defeated the 30th seed Karolna Plková to go to the semifinals, where she was defeated in straight sets by the eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka.
