With strong performances on the Tour, Holger Rune, the 40th-ranked player in the world, is beginning to stand out. Rune is one of many young players that have debuted on the Tour in the previous couple of seasons. He is the best singles player in Denmark and the only one under the age of 19 who is ranked inside the Top-300. Junior Grand Slam champion Rune won the 2019 French Open Junior singles title. After winning 5 titles from 6 ATP Challenger finals and 4 titles from 7 ITF finals, he was also ranked as the top junior in the world by the ITF.

The young Dane won his first ATP Tour title at the 2022 Munich Open, which featured clay courts. He defeated top-seeded Alexander Zverev on his way to the championship in the second round, and he went on to win the match without dropping a set. Rune became the third-youngest Tour level champion in the Open Era with his victory in Munich, passing Guillermo Perez-Roldan, who ironically won his first title at the same age in Munich. Roldan successfully defended his title the next year and in 1988, earning the top two spots on the list of the youngest Tour level winners. Rune competed in his first French Open in 2022 and reached the fourth round.
