American tennis player Alison Riske-Amritraj (born July 3, 1990) plays professionally. She won her maiden WTA Tour championship at the Tianjin Open in October 2014 before rising to a career-high singles ranking of No. 18 in the world in November 2019. She has won nine singles wins and one doubles title on the ITF Circuit in addition to three WTA singles titles. Her best singles results at Grand Slam competitions include making it to the fourth round of the Australian Open in 2020, the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2019, and the fourth round of the US Open in 2013 (when she defeated world No. 1 and the reigning French Open champion, Ashleigh Barty).

Despite not having won a WTA doubles championship, Riske-Amritraj has had success in doubles at the Grand Slam level, making it to the semifinals of the 2019 Australian Open with Jennifer Brady and the quarterfinals of the 2020 US Open with Gabriela Dabrowski. On January 13, 2020, Riske-Amritraj achieved a career-high ranking of No. 40. First WTA title

Riske pulled off a major upset at the US Open 2013 when she overcame former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová in the third round before falling to Daniela Hantuchova, a former world No. 5 player, in the next round. At the Hobart International, Riske defeated Casey Dellacqua and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to advance to the quarterfinals. She defeated No. 23 seed Elena Vesnina at the Australian Open and advanced to the third round before falling to No. 9 seed Angelique Kerber. She defeated Lyudmyla Kichenok in the first round of the WTA Premier Birmingham Classic and her twin sister Nadiia Kichenok in the second round to get to the third round. Riske, who was seeded sixth, won without dropping a set over.

She then defeated Belinda Bencic, then 17 years old, to win her first WTA championship. She remarked after the match: “Winning my first WTA title is a great accomplishment for me. I was here [in China] alone, which made it much more memorable, simply to know that I was able to do it by myself. I’m hoping to keep the enthusiasm going and do my best to compete each week.

2022 Journey

At the Adelaide International 2, Riske advanced to her maiden final, where she faced Madison Keys and lost 1-6, 2-6 in just over an hour. Her Australian Open run was cut short when she was defeated in the second round in three sets by Jelena Ostapenko. She won her subsequent singles match in the Indian Wells tournament after suffering two consecutive defeats. She ran with fellow American Madison Keys in the third round, though, and once again lost in straight sets. Her clay-court season includes a loss to eventual champion and world No. 1 Iga Witek in the second round of the French Open.

Riske began her season on grass courts in the Nottingham Open and was the sixth seed in the competition. She defeated Daria Snigur and Caroline Garcia in her first two matches, both time winning in straight sets. She faced native Harriet Dart in the quarterfinal match. The match was postponed to the following day due to rain after each player split the first set, with Riske claiming the second. She beat Eleana Yu, Camila Osorio, and Wang Xiyu to advance to the fourth round at the US Open for the second time in her career as the 29th seed. She was defeated in straight sets by Caroline Garcia, the 17th seed, in the fourth round.
