Tennis professional Laura Pigossi Herrmann de Andrade was born in Brazil on August 2, 1994. Along with Luisa Stefani, she took home a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In the ITF Circuit, Pigossi has won seven singles championships and 41 doubles championships. She achieved her highest singles ranking of 100 on August 29, 2022, after winning her first WTA Tour final at the Copa Colsanitas. In the WTA doubles rankings, she reached her peak on February 3, 2020, at position 125. As of December 2022, Pigossi, a member of the Brazil Fed Cup squad since 2013, had an 8-6 win-loss record in Fed Cup matches.

Bronze medal in Olympic

Pigossi won the bronze medal in the doubles competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In order to earn the bronze medal, she collaborated with Luisa Stefani to overcome Veronika Kudermetova and the gold-medal winner Elena Vesnina. Pigossi and Stefani beat Fernando Meligeni’s 1996 campaign, which finished in fourth place, to become the first Brazilians in tennis history to win an Olympic medal. The Brazilians received an Olympic spot at the last minute, which was verified one week before the Games began, even though Stefani was ranked No. 23 in the doubles rankings and Laura Pigossi was only ranked No. 190. The Brazilian team was able to save eight match points despite losing their only previous game together throughout the campaign. They made four saves in the bronze medal match and four more in the round of 16 against the Czech team of Karolna Plková/Markéta Vondrouová.
