Tsitsipas and Sinner will take on each other in the fourth round of the 2023 Australian Open on January 22.
The fourth round of the 2023 Australian Open will take place on Sunday, with Jannik Sinner taking on world No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas defeated Quentin Halys and Rinky Hijikata to start his pursuit of a first Major title. Tallon Griekspoor was his opponent in the third round. The Greek won the first set by winning five straight games after getting into a rhythm early on. Then, in the final game of the set, Tsitsipas saved a set point to force a tie-break, which he won to win the set. Griekspoor was unable to overturn the 24-year-early old’s 4-1 third set lead after he broke his opponent’s serve. Tsitsipas quickly prevailed in the match, 6-2, 7-6 (5), 6-3, and advanced to the next round.
Sinner advanced to the third round by decisively defeating Kyle Edmund and Tomas Martin Etcheverry. He next faced Marton Fucsovics, who won the first two sets of the match to get the match off to a strong start. After falling behind, Sinner just changed into a different player. He dropped just three more games to win the match 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0 after dropping the first two sets.
