Tsitsipas was beaten in the quarter-final of the Stuttgart Open by a spirited Andy Murray and was ousted at Halle by Nick Kyrgios in the round of 16.

Fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will embark on his 2022 Wimbledon campaign with a match against unseeded Swiss player Alexander Ritschard. The Greek has reached the final of the Mallorca Open where he will face Roberto Bautista Agut on Saturday, June 25. Leading up to Mallorca, Tsitsipas has not had the best of grass seasons by his lofty standards. He was beaten in the quarter-final of the Stuttgart Open by a spirited Andy Murray and was ousted at Halle by Nick Kyrgios in the round of 16. The fourth seed failed to make a mark at Roland Garros as he was beaten by Holger Rune in the fourth round.

Similarly, Ritschard has not found his form so far this season. The Swiss participated in three ATP Challenger events before Wimledon but failed to go far in either. He was eliminated by Jelle Sels in the round of 16 of the Troisdorf Challenger. Corentin Moutet beat him in the round of 32 of the Lyon Challenger and the Swiss failed to make it past the qualifiers of Ilkley Challenger. On paper, it should be a comfortable victory for Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas and Ritschard are scheduled to face each other on Tuesday, June 28 in the first round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There are a number of exciting matches on the second day as the likes of Nadal, Tsitsipas, Auger-Aliassime, Cilic and Schwartzman will be in action.
