One of the marquee fixtures of the third round of Wimbledon has to be the one between fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios. Tsitsipas, who reached the final of the Mallorca Open in June, has had an up and down season so far. In the 2022 edition of The Championships, the Greek has beaten Alexander Ritschard and Jordan Thompson. Tsitsipas beat Thompson 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 in which he smashed five aces and won six out of 11 break points. The Greek also won 13 service games in that match, rounding off a dominant display.
Kyrgios has beaten the likes of Paul Jubb and 26th seed Filip Krajinovic so far in The Championships. In the second round, the Aussie recorded a 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Krajinovic. He hit a whopping 25 aces and scored six out of 15 break points. He also won 12 service games. Kyrgios and Tsitsipas have faced each other in the recent past as the duo clashed at Halle. The Aussie emerged victorious on that occassion.
Tsitsipas and Kyrgios are scheduled to face each other on Saturday, July 2 in the third round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There were a number of exciting matches on July 2 as the likes of Nadal, Tsitsipas, Kyrgios and others will be in action.
