Stefanos Tsitsipas and Mikhail Kukushkin' will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Astana Open on Tuesday, October 4.
Throughout the 2022 season, Stefanos Tsitsipas‘ self-assurance has waned at various points, and it recently received another hit at the Laver Cup when he blew numerous opportunities and lost a three-set battle against Frances Tiafoe in a crucial match for Team Europe. The Greek No. 1 has won two championships and an astounding 49 matches at all levels in these 10 months, but he has only sometimes played at the top of his game this year due to a lack of confidence and fitness. In two of his most recent three appearances on the main tour, he lost to underdogs Jack Draper at the Montreal Masters and Daniel Elahi Galan at the US Open in the first round.
The level of Mikhail Kukushkin has considerably declined recently, and a few months ago, he slid out of the top 200 in the ATP rankings. Since Miami Masters 2021, he has only won one main-draw match on the main tour, and he has lost three straight games across all competitions. This would have been the perfect opportunity for the former Kazakh #1 to win a main-draw match at this level if it weren’t for the difficult draw. In the first iteration of this competition, held in 2020, he most recently reached the quarterfinals on the main tour.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkacz are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Astana Open on Tuesday, October 4. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 3 and end on October 9.
The ATP Astana Open 2022 will feature five rounds of competition apart from the qualifying matches. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final and final. The tournament is scheduled to start on Monday, October 3 and conclude on Sunday, October 9.
