The comeback of Dominic Thiem to the top of world tennis has been a slow process, but it certainly is making steady progress. After a fine performance at the Swiss Open, where he reached the semi-final, the Austrian has qualified to the quarter-finals in his home ATP 250 tournament, the Generali Open. Thiem defeated compatriot Sebastian Ofner in the round of 16 by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. The former world no. 3 hit three aces in the match and converted five out of nine break points. Thiem will face Yannick Hanfmann in the quarter-final. The unseeded German got the better of Ivan Gakhov in the previous round by a score of 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4.
Yannick Hanfmann and Dominic Thiem will take on each other on Thursday, July 28 in the quarter-final of the 2022 Generali Open. The tournament is scheduled to begin on July 25 and conclude on July 31 this year.
