The Swiatek-Cori Gauff rivalry is expected to be one to watch in the coming years, with both women expected to win a few Grand Slams. Iga Swiatek beat Gauff for the fourth time in their career, but the worst part for the American is that this was her worst loss to the world number one. Jessica Pegula faced an American for the second time in a row, and she won in straight sets for the second time in a row to advance to the semifinals. She needed an hour and 34 minutes to defeat Madison Keys 6-4, 7-5 in the season’s fourth semifinal. Jessica broke Keys early in the first set and saved three break points on her way to a set victory. Pegula needed a lot more than that in the second, as she dropped her serve in the sixth game for starters before leveling things out in the seventh. Pegula then broke Keys again at 5-5, requiring four match points to secure her place against Swiatek.
