Lorenzo Sonego and Bernabe Zapata Miralles will face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Sofia Open on Wednesday, September 28.
In Metz last week, Lorenzo Sonego put an end to all of his tour-related problems and completely turned around his season. In order to win the third ATP championship of his career, he overcame players like defending champion Hubert Hurkacz and the current ATP Montpellier winner Alexander Bublik while not dropping a set the entire week. The Italian was having a difficult time on tour recently, so that championship run in Metz came at the most inconvenient time. Before entering ATP Metz (20/24), he hadn’t won back-to-back main-draw matches since June and had a losing record in 2022.
In spite of the fact that Bernabe Zapata Miralles hasn’t participated in a competitive match in almost three weeks, he must be feeling confident right now. He participated in a few Challenger level championship matches at Meerbusch last month and Sevilla this month, as well as a five-set encounter with Tommy Paul at the US Open. In 2022, the Spaniard has won more main-draw games than he has in his other seasons combined (8 vs 6). Nevertheless, he fell to Botic Van De Zandschulp in Rotterdam in his only other indoor hard court encounter of the year.
Lorenzo Sonego and Bernabe Zapata Miralles are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Sofia Open on Wednesday, September 28. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 26 and end on October 2.
