Lorenzo Sonego and Bernabe Zapata Miralles will take on each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Tuesday, October 11.
By winning the championship on the indoor hard courts in Metz a few weeks ago, Lorenzo Sonego put a stop to his dismal performance on the main circuit this year and rejuvenated his career. In his five matches there, he did not lose a set, and in the semifinal, he overcame the defending champion Hubert Hurkacz. The Italian’s incredible 13-set winning streak over two tournaments in Metz and Sofia came to a stop in the second round of the ATP Sofia match against reigning ATP Munich winner Holger Rune, 7-6 4-6 3-6.
In main-draw matches on indoor hard courts this season, Bernabe Zapata Miralles is 0-2; one of those defeats was against Lorenzo Sonego in the opening round of the ATP Sofia tournament last month, 3-6, 4-6. The Spanish player’s best season on the main circuit is without a doubt this one. Before 2022, he had only won six games in the main draw of tournaments on the circuit, but this year, he has won nine games in the main draw, and a few months ago, he made his first quarterfinal appearance at this level in Umag.
Lorenzo Sonego and Bernabe Zapata Miralles are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 ATP Firenze Open on Tuesday, October 11. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 10 and end on October 16.
The ATP Firenze Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 10, 2022 and conclude on October 16, 2022.
