The victory improved the six-time tour-level champion’s record to 36-9 this season. He has reached seven quarter finals this year, including the Australian Open and Wimbledon. They have a 1-1 record in their previous meetings. Carreno Busta won in Rotterdam in 2020, while Sinner won in Miami this year.

To stop the 19-year-old Dane, he dropped only 10 points in the first set and converted 5 of 9 breakpoints. The Spaniard’s season record has improved to 24-17 as a result of his strong start. His best finish this year was runner-up in Barcelona. In another notable performance, he recently reached the final four in Bastad and was a quarterfinalist in Halle. On Thursday, the six-time tour-level champion will compete for a fourth quarter final spot of the season.
