Siniaková/Krejčíková and McNally/Townsend are scheduled to face each other on Sunday, September 11 in the Finals of the 2022 US Open.
One victory separates Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova from achieving the Career Grand Slam. The No. 3 seeds from the Czech Republic defeated No. 10 seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez of the United States and Ellen Perez of Australia on Thursday night to advance to the US Open women’s doubles final. Krejcikova and Siniakova, two former Doubles World No. 1 players, have won five Grand Slam doubles titles together, including Roland Garros in 2018 and 2021, Wimbledon in 2018 and 2022, and the Australian Open in 2022, but prior to this year, they had never advanced to the US Open final. After the Czechs defeated Melichar-Martinez and Perez in 2 hours and 16 minutes, everything was different.
Caty McNally and Taylor Townsend rallied from a set and a break down to beat No.12 seeds Caroline Dolehide and Storm Sanders 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the US Open women’s doubles final on Friday. The unseeded all-American duo, who both won multiple Grand Slam doubles titles as juniors, defeated their countryman Dolehide and Australia’s Sanders in 1 hour and 34 minutes. Following the birth of her son Adyn last year, Townsend caps her successful return to the tour with a trip to her first Grand Slam final at the pro level. McNally and Townsend will face No.3 seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova in the final on Sunday. Siniakova is also expected to reclaim the WTA Doubles World No. 1 spot after the US Open, win or lose.
