Denis Shapovalov of Canada will face Brandon Nakashima of the United States in the second round of the 2022 Wimbledon.
The thirteenth seed On Thursday, June 30, Denis Shapovalov of Canada will face Brandon Nakashima of the United States in the second round of the 2022 Wimbledon. This will be their first encounter. Denis Shapovalov just avoided a collision with Arthur Rinderknech at Wimbledon. He started well, winning the first set 6-1, but then lost the following two in two tiebreaks. Shapovalov was down a break in the fourth set, but he rallied back to win 6-4 and then strolled to a 6-1 victory in the final. He played excellent tennis at Wimbledon last year, and he is familiar with the venue.
Brandon Nakashima has been playing some great tennis recently, with a strong showing in Roland Garros and a strong showing in various grass competitions following that. His greatest tennis is not on grass, but he can play well on it. This youngster has a lot of potential, as he’s 8-3 on grass this year and 19-16 overall. He is improving and will soon be a top 50 player. Denis Shapovalov is clearly the superior player, but he will have to work hard to do this. Nakashima will not give him many free points, and if the Canadian makes a few mistakes, he will almost likely take the risk.
Denis Shapovalov v Brandon Nakashima are scheduled to face each other on Thursday, June 30 in the second round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championship is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10.
