Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Marta Kostyuk are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 WTA Guadalajara Open on October 17.
After failing to advance past the qualifying rounds in San Diego last week, Aliaksandra Sasnovich will be desperate to get off to a good start in Guadalajara and reclaim the form that saw her reach a second season final in Cleveland not long ago. The Belarussian had started the season by finishing second at the Melbourne Summer Set. She has appeared in four WTA tour finals, all on hard courts, but has yet to win her first WTA title. Sasnovich’s form has been consistent all year. She reached the fourth round of the French Open and the Miami Open and reached the quarterfinals in St. Petersburg, Berlin, and Hamburg. She is 6-4 in her last ten matches, including the San Diego qualifier.
The Ukrainian performed best in Granby, where she won three straight matches to advance to the semifinals but withdrew prior to her matchup with the final four. She has still only won three consecutive matches in one tournament this year, and that one. Marta Kostyuk has a year-to-date record of 24-18, but nine of those victories came during the qualifying stages. Her recent performance hasn’t been great either; in four tournaments, she has only won two games. She defeated her opponent in the first round of the US Open before losing in the second round to Portoroz. The following week, Kostyuk advanced to the second round in Tallinn but was eliminated in the first round in Cluj-Napoca.
Aliaksandra Sasnovich and Marta Kostyuk are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 WTA Guadalajara Open on Monday, October 17. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 17, 2022 and conclude on October 23, 2022.
The WTA Guadalajara Open 2022 will have six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the first round, second round, third round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 17, 2022 and conclude on October 23, 2022.
