Emil Ruusuvuori and Jiri Lehecka are scheduled to face each other in the second round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on October 20.
With a commanding straight-set victory over the defending ATP Pune winner Joao Sousa this week, Emil Ruusuvuori averted consecutive first-round exits from ATP Stockholm. The score was 6-3, 6-2. In the first round of the competition, where he was making his tournament debut, he was defeated by Pedro Martinez Portero in three sets. The young Finn had several dominant weeks on indoor hard courts early in his career, but he hasn’t played on the surface in 22 months. In fact, all three of his previous indoor tournament appearances this year—in Metz, Tel Aviv, and Astana—ended in the second round due to losses to Alexander Bublik, Constant Lestienne, and Daniil Medvedev.
Jiri Lehecka, who earlier this year at the Australian Open lost to Grigor Dimitrov in his first-ever match in the main draw of a tour-level competition, faced the Bulgarian No. 1 in Stockholm’s first round and prevailed, 6-4 1-6 7-6. In 11 tries, he had only two top-50 victories. Denis Shapovalov, who was ranked #12 at the time, was defeated by him earlier this year on the indoor hard courts in Rotterdam, where he went on to reach the semifinals, his greatest performance on the main circuit.
Emil Ruusuvuori and Jiri Lehecka are scheduled to face one another in the second round of the 2022 ATP Stockholm Open on Thursday, October 20. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 17, 2022 and conclude on October 23, 2022.
The ATP Stockholm Open will have five rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The competition’s main draw is set to commence on October 17, 2022 and conclude on October 23, 2022.
