On Monday, Finland's Emil Ruusuvuori will face American J.J. Wolf in the opening round of the 2022 ATP Cincinnati Open.
Despite playing excellent tennis over the past few weeks, Emil Ruusuvuori lost a few games that were very close. Although his game appears to be quite powerful on these courts, his ongoing struggle with consistency makes it extremely difficult for him to ultimately earn that big break. He had records of 2-1 in Washington and 1-1 in Montreal, demonstrating the difficulty in maintaining consistency. He’s playing well overall, but you can never be sure with him; he could win or he could lose. With a 32-24 record thus far, the season has overall looked extremely good, but he needs to perform better overall. His lack of variety—most of his shots are topspin shots with little else—is another issue. He might find himself playing more consistently in contests if he can discover other ways to get points besides hitting the ball hard.
One of the tennis players who will always perform at his best at home in the US is J.J. Wolf. He has been playing some incredible tennis recently, notably in Washington, where only Andrey Rublev has shown to be better. Wolf has a yearly record of 31-20 and a hard court record of 20-11. Since he played a lot before this point in the season, the majority of the victories came on the Challenger Tour, but he also had some respectable performances during the Sunshine Double. This is a crucial time in the season for him since it might help him move up the rankings and open up more opportunities to play ATP tennis. He is currently ranked 84, which is by far the highest position he has ever had. His serve is the focal point of his game.
Emil Ruusuvuori and J.J. Wolf are scheduled to face one another in the Opening round of the 2022 Cincinnati Open on Monday, August 15. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 14 till August 21.
