On Sunday, November 21, 2022, Novak Djokovic won his sixth ATP Tour finals title, capping the 2022 campaign. The 35-year-old Serbian won the championship match in straight sets over Casper Ruud. At the conclusion of the season, he has now won the ATP Finals trophy six times in his career, matching Roger Federer’s record. The Serbian also won the highest-ever prize in tennis history, $4.7 million, for his victory.

Both athletes made a strong start in the competition in Turin. Both players excelled at their service games and put pressure on their opponents in the first set, which featured a close battle. As it seemed that a tiebreaker would be necessary to decide the winner of the match, both players missed a few break point opportunities. However, Djokovic finally broke his foe at 6-5 to take the opening set 7-5.

It’s time for finals. These games typically come down to razor-thin margins,” Djokovic said. “One serve break was enough in both sets. When I came for this match, Casper was doing fairly well. We both served fairly well, and I think I was able to put a couple returns back into play at some important moments, like the 12th game of the first set. He was made to play and run by me. I was pleased with my performance overall. “I am quite pleased with the performance,” I said. “I wanted to be forceful, and it worked perfectly.” Twitter was abuzz with fan reactions and in this article, we take a look at some of the best ones.
