The ATP Tour 250 tennis competition known as the men’s Swedish Open takes place in July in Bastad, Sweden. The International Swedish Hard Court Championships were the name of the competition when it was first held in 1948. The men’s competition took place on the Grand Prix tennis circuit between 1970 and 1989. South African Eric Sturgess won the first three competitions. Ilie Nastase (1971), Bjorn Borg (1974, 1978-1979), Mats Wilander (1982-1983, 1985), and Rafael Nadal are some more well-known winners (2005). In order to make room for the new hotel under the coastal bleachers, the stadium where the tournament is hosted underwent renovated in 2002.

Casper Ruud, the top seed of the competition, will play Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 16 of the 2022 Nordea Open. Ruud has had a fine season so far, reaching the final of the French Open earlier. However, the Norwegian had to contend with just a second round exit at the Wimbledon Championships.
