Rublev, who is seeded fifth in Astana, shrugged off Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the quarter-final on Friday 6-1, 6-2.
After three successful outings so far in the 2022 ATP Astana Open, Andrey Rublev is all set to face third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-final of the competition. Rublev, who is seeded fifth in Astana, shrugged off Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the quarter-final on Friday 6-1, 6-2. The Russian scored four aces and converted four out of five break points in the tie. He has also beaten the likes of Laslo Djere and Zhang Zhizhen en route to the last four. The semi-final match between Rublev and Tsitsipas promises to be a thrilling contest between two of the best tennis players in the world today.
Third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas got the better of Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-final. Tsitsipas held on in what was a nervy first set and broke late in the second to win the match 7-6(8), 6-3. This was the first time in the last seven matches that these two have settled things in straight sets. The Greek is yet to drop a set in Kazakhstan so far, although it was in some real jeopardy against Hurkacz and Luca Nardi.
Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are scheduled to face each other in the first round of the 2022 ATP Astana Open on Saturday, October 8. The tournament is scheduled to begin on October 3 and end on October 9.
