Sebastian Baez defeated Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals last week in Bastad, but the Russian was relieved to be back on the court. He performed admirably during the week that served to shake off the rust. In the first round in Hamburg, Rublev outperformed Ricardas Berankis overall and defeated his valiant attempt. Rublev plays tennis in a very aggressive manner, striking early in rallies and delivering powerful blows to the ball. He used that strategy against Berankis, and it mostly worked. He needs a few weeks of steady tennis to get there, but it’s still far from his best. The Russian has no self-confidence concerns, and this year has been another fantastic one for him. The final score is 32-10 overall and 14-5 on clay.
Francisco Cerundolo, an Argentine who last week won his first championship in Bastad, is currently riding a six-match winning streak. On his way to the title, he defeated a few standout players, and he also succeeded in winning his opening round match in Hamburg. When playing against Daniel Altmaier, a native of Germany, it was difficult for Cerundolo since the German attacked him quickly. After some time to acclimate, Cerundolo began to play much better and eventually cruised to victory. He did not appear overly worn out, which is positive for him. After winning a title, players typically suffered the following week, but Cerundolo didn’t seem to have any issues because she won the majority of her matches in straight sets.
Andrey Rublev and Francisco Cerundolo will take on each other on Thursday, July 21 in the second round of the 2022 ATP Hamburg European open. The competition is scheduled to commence on July 18 and conclude on July 24 this year.

The 2022 Hamburg European Open will have five rounds of play both for the ATP and WTA competitors. These are the first round, second round, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The tournament is scheduled to be held from July 18 to July 24, but the qualifiers will commence from July 16 for both the men’s and women’s categories.
