American tennis player Shelby Rogers will begin her 2022 Wimbledon campaign against Croatian tennis player Petra Martic. Rogers has had a decent season so far. At the French Open, Rogers went till the third round where she was beaten by Daria Kasatkina. She then played at Hertogenbosch, reaching the semi-finals before losing to top seed Aryna Sabalenka. At the Birmingham Classic, Rogers was beaten in the round of 32 by sixth seed Sorana Cirstea. The American also played at the Eastbourne International where she was beaten by Viktoriya Tomova in the round of 32.
Martic’s season has not been exceptional so far but she could make an impact at The Championships. In the previous Grand Slam at Paris, she was beaten in the first round by Katerina Siniakova. Martic then took part in the Birmingham Classic where she was beaten by Aleksandra Krunic in the round of 32. At Eastbourne, the Croat was out in the round of 64 after losing to Jodie Anna Burrage.
Rogers and Martic are scheduled to face each other on Tuesday, June 28 in the first round of the 2022 Championships. The timing of the match has not been decided yet. The Championships is scheduled to begin on June 27 and go on until July 10. There are a number of exciting matches on the second day of the first round as the likes of Swiatek, Badosa, Williams, Gauff, Krejcikova and others will be in action.
