It is not easy to lead a normal life if you happen to be a certain 20-time Grand Slam champion – Roger Federer. Be it during match days or out shopping with your family, it is inevitable to be bombarded with selfies or autographs from fans. However, the six-time Australian Open champion, Federer, said that things are not the same in his homeland.

In an interview with Swiss-German daily Aargauer Zeitung, the tennis legend said his days in Switzerland are spent as any other family would. “No two days are the same, that is clear. We are spontaneous and do what other families do,” the eight-time Wimbledon champion said.

Federer said that the quiet way of living in his homeland lets him step out with his kids regularly. “Fortunately, it’s easy in Switzerland… for example, I went to the forest with my children and went to the park the day before. Or we go to the playground,” said the Swiss.

Roger, who is one of the few players to have won all the four Grand Slam singles titles, emphasised his need to spend quality outside time. “It is important to me that we are outdoors a lot and in nature and also enjoy the peace and quiet a little,” he concluded.

Following a second knee surgery last year, the Swiss maestro made his competitive comeback in Doha recently. After triumphing in his return match against Briton Dan Evans, he went down against Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili in the next round.
