British tennis player Emma Raducanu stormed into the quarter-final of the 2022 WTA Korea Open where she will face Poland’s Magda Linette. Raducanu went up against Yanina Wickmayer in the second round and won 6-3, 7-5 after a strong service game. The Brit hit nine aces in the match and although she committed nine double faults, kept her head in the game. Her win percentage on the first and second serves were 64% and 71% respectively and she converted five out of eight break points. It has been a difficult month for Raducanu who was ousted in the first round of the 2022 US Open by Alize Cornet. She then participated in the Slovenia Open but was beaten by Anna-Lena Friedsam in the second round 5-7, 6-0, 3-6.
Magda Linette defeated Kristina Mladenovic 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in the second round to make it through to the last eight at Korea. The Pole recorded four aces and converted five out of 10 break points. She also recorded win percentages of 67% and 59% on the first and second serves respectively. In the first round, Linette beat Frenchwoman Arianne Hartono 6-2, 7-5.
Emma Raducanu and Magda Linette are scheduled to face each other in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 Tokyo Open on Friday, September 23. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 19 and end on September 25.
