Reigning US Open champion Emma Raducanu is only weeks away from defending her title and she will be looking to gain momentum wherever she can leading up to that. The Brit will begin her 2022 Canadian Open campaign with a first round match against Italy’s Camila Giorgi. Although her form at the Wimbledon Championships was not on par with her usual standards, Raducanu displayed a fine performance at the Citi Open earlier this month. She had made it as far as the quarter-finals of the competition where she was defeated by Ludmilla Samsonova.

Things have not gone to plan for Camila Giorgi of late. Her exceptional performance at the Eastbourne International seems like a long time ago as the Italian has found it hard to get going ever since. At Wimbledon, Giorgi was ousted in the first round by Magdalena Frech and by Veronika Kudermetova in the round of 32 of the Silicon Valley Classic.

2022 Canadian Open Schedule

The 2022 edition of the Canadian Open is set to begin from August 8 and go on until August 15. The men’s final is scheduled to be on August 15 and the women’s one is set to be held on August 14. There will be six rounds of play in the main draw excluding the qualifiers.
