Anastasia Potapova and Qiang Wang will face each other in the semifinal round of the 2022 WTA Prague Open on Saturday, July 30.
Anastasia Potapova must be regarded as the favorite to win the event on Sunday since she is the player with the best ranking who is still competing. Despite having quite contrasting encounters this week, she hasn’t lost a set in Prague. In the opening round, Potapova lost just three games against another Chinese lady, Zinyu Wang, who is ranked 79 in the world. Another Chinese player, Lin Zhu, the 100th-ranked player in the world, proved to be very different, as it took 18 points in their second set tie-break before Potapova ultimately won.
Qiang Wang hasn’t won her most recent WTA championship in over four years, but she was a defeated finalist in Emilia-Romagna last year. But, after advancing through the qualifying round in Prague, she is only one match away from another final. She had to fight her way through, coming from behind to defeat Swedish number one Rebecca Peterson in the first round. Her second round win over fellow qualifier Dalila Jakupovic of Slovakia was more straightforward, as she advanced with only four games lost. But she required every ounce of energy she saved in that fight for her quarter-final showdown against Magda Linette of Poland.
Anastasia Potapova and Qiang Wang will face each other in the semifinal round of the 2022 WTA Prague Open on Saturday, July 30. The WTA 250 competition is scheduled to start from July 25 and end on July 31 this year.
