Karolina Pliskova earned a simple victory against compatriot Marie Bouzkova in the second round of the 2022 US Open on Friday. The 22nd hit four aces and converted three out of eight break points to win 6-3, 6-2. The Czech also recorded win percentages of 91% ad 53% on the first and second serves respectively. Pliskova displayed a fine performance earlier in the Canadian Open where she went as far as the semi-final. She will be hoping for a similar showing at the US Open. Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic had to dig deep to edge out a comeback victory against Romania’s Sorana Cirstea in the second round on Thursday. Bencic went down 6-3 in the first set but showed grit and determination to win the next two sets. The score at the end of the match was 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. “It was a very tough win,” Bencic admitted after the match. “I felt she was putting me a lot under pressure in the first and the second sets. I was doing a lot of mistakes, especially with my forehand. I told myself I just fight and we see how it goes.”
Karolina Pliskova and Belinca Bencic are scheduled to face one another in a third round match of the US Open 2022 on Sunday, September 4. The 2022 US Open is all set to begin from August 29 till September 11.

The 2022 US Open will see six rounds of action excluding the qualifiers. These include the round of 64, round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final for both men’s and women’s. The tournament is scheduled to commence on August 29 and conclude on September 11 this year.
