Alexander Bublik is a professional tennis player from Kazakhstan who was born in Russia. He has been ranked as high as world No. 34 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which he achieved for the first time on September 13, 2021, and is currently Kazakhstan's No. 1 singles player. Bublik's career-high doubles ranking is world No. 47, which he achieved on November 8, 2021.

Bublik announced in November 2016 that he would begin representing Kazakhstan after transferring his citizenship from Russia. Despite not having won an ATP title in his career, he has finished second in four singles finals and one doubles final. Bublik has never advanced beyond the third round of a Grand Slam singles tournament, but he did reach the finals of the 2021 French Open with partner Andrey Golubev before losing to Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert. Bublik, who stands 1.96 metres (6 feet 5 inches) tall, is known for his powerful serve and currently leads the 2021 ATP Tour in aces served this season.

Eventful 2016

Bublik was ranked 964th in the world at the start of 2016. In April 2016, he won his first Futures title in Doha, and then titles in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sweden. At the 2016 St. Petersburg Open, he received wildcards into both the singles and doubles main draws, making his ATP main-draw debut. Bublik qualified for the Kremlin Cup, where he won his biggest match of his career in the round of 16 by defeating top seed and world No. 13 Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets. He then fell to eventual champion Pablo Carreo Busta in a three-set thriller. The Kazakh announced his intention to represent Kazakhstan in November 2016. Bublik's ranking had risen 759 places to No. 205 by the end of the year.

Grand Slam doubles semis

Bublik made his first Grand Slam semifinal in doubles at the 2020 Australian Open, partnering fellow Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin and losing to Rajeev Ram/Joe Salisbury. Bublik advanced to the semifinals of the Marseille Open, where he was defeated in straight sets by Stefanos Tsitsipas. Bublik advanced to the quarterfinals of the Hamburg Open as a Lucky Loser, defeating Albert Ramos-Violas and Felix Auger-Aliassime before losing in three sets to Cristian Garn. He beat Gael Monfils in the first round of the 2020 French Open, but lost to Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.
